- GPA requirements
- exam requirements inclSAT and ACT requirements
- Application requirements

School location: Utica, New York
This school is also known as: State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Institute of Technology, SUNY Polytechnic Institute
Admission rate: 64.8%
If you want to join, you should first look at the acceptance rate. This shows how competitive the school is and how serious their requirements are.
SUNY Poly acceptance rate is 64.8%. 65 out of 100 applicants are admitted.

That means the school ismoderately selective. The school expects you to meet GPA and SAT/ACT score requirements, but they are more flexible than other schools. If you exceed their requirements, you have an excellent chance of getting accepted. But if you don't, you could be among the unfortunate minority who get a rejection letter.

Requirements SUNY Poly GPA
Many schools set a minimum GPA grade, but this is usually just the bare minimum that can be applied for without being rejected outright.
The GPA requirement that really counts is the GPA you need to have a real shot at getting in. To do this, we look at the school's average GPA for its current students.
Average grade point average: 3.7
Isaverage grade point averageit is SUNY Poly3.7.

(Most schools use a weighted GPA of 4.0, although some give an unweighted GPA.
With an average grade of 3.7SUNY Poly asks you to be above averagein your high school class. You need at least a mix of A and B, with more A than B. You can compensate for a lower GPA with tougher classes like AP or IB classes. This will show that you are able to handle tougher academics than the average high school student.
Whether you're a junior or a senior, it's difficult to change your GPA in time to apply to college. If your GPA is at or below the school average of 3.7,You need a higher SAT or ACT score to compensate. This will help you compete effectively against other candidates who have higher GPAs than you.
SAT and ACT requirements
Every school has different requirements for standardized tests. Most schools require the SAT or ACT, and many also require SAT subject tests.
You must complete the SAT or ACT to apply to SUNY Poly.More importantly, to have a strong app, you have to get it right.
SUNY Poly SAT requirements
Many schools say they have no SAT score cap, but the truth is there is a hidden SAT requirement. This is based on the school's average score.
Average SATs: 1180
Isaverage SAT scoreassembled at SUNY Poly is a1180this scale 1600 SAT.
This score makes SUNY PolyCompetitivefor SAT test results.
SUNY Poly SAT Score Analyse (Neu 1600 SAT)
The SAT at the 25th percentile is 1000 and the SAT at the 75th percentile is 1350. In other words, a1000 on the SAT puts you below average, while 1350 puts you above average.
Here is the breakdown of the SAT results by section:
Section | Average | 25th percentile | 75th percentile |
mathematics | 600 | 510 | 690 |
reading + writing | 580 | 490 | 660 |
composed | 1180 | 1000 | 1350 |
SAT Score Selection Policy
Your school's Scoring Choice policy is an important part of your assessment strategy.
Prerequisites SUNY Poly ACT
Like the SAT, SUNY Poly probably doesn't have a hard ACT threshold, but if you score too low, your application will be thrown in the trash.
Media Law: 26
Ismedium ACTSUNY Poly score is 26. This score makes SUNY Polymoderately competitivefor ACT scores.
The 25th percentile ACT score is 20 and the 75th percentile ACT score is 28.
While SUNY Poly will likely say there is no minimum ACT requirement, if you apply at 20 or under you will have a harder time applying unless you have something more impressive in your application.
ACT Policy for Submitting Results
Taking the ACT instead of the SAT gives you a major advantage in the way you submit scores, and it drastically affects your testing strategy.
Here it is:By submitting ACT scores to colleges, you have complete control over the tests you submit. You can take 10 tests and only submit the highest one. This is unlike the SAT, where many schools require you to submit any tests you have taken.
That means you have more opportunities than you think to improve your ACT score. To try to get ACT 26 or more, you should try to take the ACT as often as possible. When you have an end result that you are happy with, you can send that exact result to all your schools.
ACT Overscore Guidelines
In general, most colleges do not exceed the ACT score. (Superscore means the school takes your best section scores from all of the test data you submit and combines them into the best possible composite score.) As a result, most schools only get their highest ACT score in a single session.
We couldn't find the school's exact ACT policy, which probably means it's not overstated. You can still choose your best individual ACT score to send to SUNY Poly, so work your way up to our recommended ACT score target of 26.
Are you studying for the ACT instead? Want to know how to improve your ACT score by 4 points?
Requirements for the SAT/ACT writing section
Both the SAT and the ACT have an optional attachment.
Polyethylene SUNYConsider the optional SAT Essay/ACT Writing sectionand you must not include it in your admissions considerations. You don't have to worry too much about writing to this school, but other schools you apply to may require it.
Requirements for the SAT subject test
Schools differ in their SAT subject test requirements. Generally, selective schools require them, while most schools in the country do not.
SUNY Poly pointed this outSAT subject tests are recommended. This usually means that SAT subject tests are not required, but submitting these tests can show certain strengths. For example, if you are applying to an engineering school, the Science and Math SATs will speed up your application.
Typically, your SAT/ACT and GPA carry much more weight than your SAT subject tests. If you have an opportunity to improve your SAT/ACT or SAT subject test scores,Definitely choose to improve your SAT/ACT score.
Final admission decision

because this school ismoderately selective and strong academic performance almost guarantees admission. If you get a SAT of 1350 or an ACT of 28 or higher, you are almost guaranteed admission. Since the school admits 64.8% of all applicants, the acceptance rate is well above average at almost 100%.
If you get a high SAT/ACT score, the rest of your application doesn't matter. You must still meet the remaining application requirements and your GPA must not be too far off the school average of 3.7. But you don't need flashy extracurricular activities or impressive letters of recommendation to get accepted. You can enter based solely on your score.
But if your score is 1000 SAT or 20 ACT and below, you have a very good chance of being one of the unlucky few to get rejected.
